We are totally disappointed with the operation of the Smardt chiller. A 650 Ton was installed at our site over 3 years ago, and the Kiltech controls and CPECS controls were failing frequently. The unit initially had no hot gas bypass, hence at low loads, the unit would stop. Even after the bypasses were installed, the Kiltech and CPECS would fail frequently when the condensing water rate was reduced below 60% cause huge energy wastage. The worst part was the total lack of customer support. We called Philip Kennedy the President of Kiltech, Andrew Martin, Director of Maintenace, Richard Taft, Director Sales, and Jeremy Ouillett. None responded and after frequent cajoling, showed a very callous attitude to the whole issue. We learnt that Smardt and CPECs had the same problem in other areas in US such as Texas, etc. . I am not sure if their issues have been resolved yet. I would never recommend Smardt or CPECS anywhere else in the world.
